About Charlie:
Charlie Daugherty resides in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where she is a gigging percussionist and percussion educator. Charlie earned her BM in Music Education from Kent State University, her MM in Percussion Performance from Middle Tennessee State University, and is currently working on her DMA at the University of Alabama, where she also serves as the graduate teaching assistant. She extends her gratitude to her diverse mentors, including Dr. Andrew Lynge, Dr. Brian Mueller, Lalo Davila, Julie Davila, Russell Wharton, Dr. Matt Holm, Cory Doran, and Cameron Leach.
Charlie has been an adjunct faculty member at Stillman College since 2023, and additionally has served on the faculty at The University of Alabama at Huntsville in 2024. Her teaching and consulting experience spans high school programs in Ohio, Tennessee, and Mississippi. Charlie has worked as a front ensemble staff member with Music City Drum Corps in 2022, the Mandarins in 2023 and 2024, and with the Phantom Regiment for their 2025 season. During the winter months, she works as the ensemble coordinator at Audio Theater, a role she has held since their 2022 season. Charlie was a performing member of Matrix Performing Arts (2018-2020) and The Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps (2018-2019).
Charlie performs regularly with the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra and has appeared on national stages, including the 2024 PASIC IPEC Showcase with the University of Alabama and the 2019 All-Star Collegiate Percussion Ensemble at PASIC. In addition to her orchestral and ensemble work, she maintains an active freelance schedule, performing across Alabama and Tennessee in a wide range of musical settings.
Charlie is a proud member of the Percussive Arts Society since 2017, where she serves as the chair for the University Student Committee. Charlie proudly endorses Innovative Percussion.
